College are providing tea and cake for you all on SUNDAY AT 4PM in Ramsay Hall.
This will become a regular Sunday 4pm fixture until exams. How exciting!
The college are providing this, on the recommendation of the JCR, to support you all in your revision. The only thing they ask in return is that you don't take the food and drink into the library. If you do, this lovely revision break will unfortunately disappear...

First Year Room Ballot

First years are due to ballot on Wednesday 29th February.
You have been e-mailed ballot timings and a list of rooms. Please browse the room database:
http://jcr.magd.cam.ac.uk/raven/rooms/
It is worthwhile to decide upon a list of rooms you would be happy to live in so that you are left with a range of options on the night and can adapt accordingly as rooms are taken.
You may find it helpful to bring your laptop to Cripps so that you van evaluate all the different options on the night.
JCR Lent Bulletin 1

Term started with a ‘pow!’ The bop was as enjoyable as ever and Halfway Hall went down a storm. Mike Black’s endearing speech won praise from the Master and Miss President perhaps had too much fun on high table!
Meanwhile the JCR has been kept busy...
Charities
After holding a successful pub quiz in week one, Amelia and her committee also helped Magdalenites find love ‘en masse’ through RAG Blind Date. If that’s not enough, Miss Magdalene takes place this evening! Come along to see your favourite classy ladies compete to win Magdalene’s most contested title (hopefully maintaining their dignity in the process). Look out for details of the Charity Ceilidh later in the term – it promises to be a cracking night.
Welfare
Week 5 blues packs are here! Your yummy treats should be in your pigeon holes (unless the porters don’t like you). And, if your sugar levels hadn’t taken enough of a hit already, be sure to come along to Ben and Jerry’s Night on Monday for your free ice cream and Chlamydia test! What more could you want?!
We also have a new women’s officer, Anna Kosinska, who is holding drop-‐in sessions alongside Emil.
ENTS
The Valentines formal and the accompanying Variety Night have been the highlight of February so far. The evening not only featured roses, ‘Haribo’ rings, and college marriage ceremonies but also music, comedy, and cocktails! We are also looking to revolutionise Superhalls. Be prepared!
Access
Lauren’s been spotted sporting her beaming smile around college; I hear it’s going down famously with the college staff! In all seriousness, Lauren’s been hard at work organising access days and the Liverpool Trip is set to go ahead again in March. She’s also been encouraging you to go back to your own schools so please so contact her if you’d like to take part.
Communications
I’m sure you’ve all noticed the Olivia’s delightful new MagdIn and MagdOut headers and are benefitting from her grouping of news items, helping you to skip to the good bits!
Freshers’ Rep
Re-‐fresher’s week this term was better than ever. It kicked off with a reunion ‘banquet’ (Rev’s style) and also featured club nights, a comedy night, and a shared swap with Queens Boys/girls.
Green & Ethical
‘Green Week’ highlighted the importance of environmental awareness, including a bike doctor session, ‘Fairtrade Formal’, and a pub quiz. Meanwhile, the village has seen the introduction of new cardboard bins (which you shouldn’t be mis-‐using!)
Domestic, Services and Academic
Following the room survey, Sophie has been really hard at work on the Room Ballot – be assured, this is no easy task!
I.T.
Jack’s been putting his IT skills to the test, updating the rooms’ database with great new pictures (see the JCR Website) to help you choose your room. Perhaps most importantly, Jack’s played a crucial role behind the scenes as he battles to educate his technically incompetent President, dealing calmly with numerous e-‐mails entitled ‘HELP!’
Open Portfolio
So far this term, Isaac’s been preoccupied helping to organise Halfway Hall. He’s also got some great ideas about speakers he plans to bring to Magdalene in Michaelmas.
Treasurer
Flo’s been keeping a close eye on the JCR finances and provides much needed information and utterances from our ex-‐President. It’s as if he never left...
Vice-‐President
When not manically cycling to and from the infamous ‘lab’, Saskia has been organising meetings, representing the JCR at CUSU, mastering the Halfway Hall Seating plan, and, to Tommy’s delight, accidently putting a kiss at the end of an e-‐mail to several important male college staff! Oh Saskia...
President
Tommy’s been busy meeting college staff, helping organise Halfway Hall and the Room Ballot, and looking at changes to the current OTR system and the Academic Assessment Form (both soon to be simplified online services). She’s slowly learning on the job, attempting to win over Bob (the College Marshall), and is still struggling to live down her mis-‐spelling of ‘Pepys’.... We hope she’ll get there eventually!
That’s all folks. It may be week 5 but that’s no reason to stop smiling and enjoying life in Cambridge. The snow’s gone and that can only mean one thing: your walk to Cindies is now significantly easier. So, what are you waiting for?
Towards the end of term we will be having another Open Meeting – be sure to email agenda items to Saskia (sc635) and come along!
